Funds
- Figure out how to set up an account with AS and with Western Foundation
-$250 from BP (possibly)
-$50 from AS
Project
What types of digesters
- Digesters- normally large, smaller size- new idea to make a profit
- Line an underground pond- need a way to push manure through
- Research different types already created
- Take ideas from all
- Amount of cows we want to use- possibly <100
What are we trying to deliver?
- Cooking/heating fuel digesters cost way less than if producing electricity (unless using fuel cells or turbine)
- Find what is considered low-scale.
- Get farmers on board by contacting multiple farmers, find what they need from the digester.
- Portable digesters? Helpful if no farms commit or are organic.
Steps to take
- Pick dairies that are possibilities (Hannah and Drew)
- Research- find out what has been done elsewhere (especially WSU)
- Presentations on- how digested and biomethane
- Talk to Vanderhaak Farm- possibly schedule a tour to find out variables we might not know (Drew)
- Money in the bank- AS students (Hannah), money through VRI biomethane project, research grants of alternative energy (Scott Minos).
- Anerobically digested- use landfills, food waste pickup
